The scariest moments of crime caught on camera

The crime stats this year recorded that 2.1 million serious crimes were reported in 2016/2017.

Moments like these are scary to watch but we could definitely learn from them. These crime moments were caught on camera in 2017 and highlight just how we could be more cautions in certain situations.

There were some positive news to accompany the negative. News24 reports that there has been an overall 1.8% decrease in crime compared to 2015/16; however, there has been an equal increase in murder cases.

Intelligence Bureau SA uploaded shocking footage of an attempted hijacking in the Johannesburg area. In the video below, a Porsche can be seen pulling into a driveway. Soon after the car's arrival, another vehicle pulls up and an armed man runs towards the white car to carry out the hijacking.

CCTV footage shows how the armed robbers lingered outside the shop and within seconds started to smash their way into the store through the glass door. Constant smashing caused the large glass door to break and the men pushed their way through, proceeding to clear out the store of its goods. 


 


A video has emerged showing an incident of bullying at a school in Klerksdorp. The incident took place at Hoerskool Schoonspruit and was filmed by a bystander and uploaded to social media. 

In the video one boy appears to be much larger in size and continues to punch the victim in the head. He throws the smaller boy on the ground and continues to punch him in the head. School principal, Dries De Beer explained that the aggressor was angered by "gossip". The victim of the attack did come out relatively unscathed from the beating. 

Traffic came to a complete standstill when robbers prepared to blow up a cash in transit vehicle on the R24 east near Barbara road.


While watching the footage, visuals show traffic heavily backed up, with all the focus on the large cash in transit vehicle. A few moments later you can hear a loud bang and the roof of the vehicle flips up over the highway. 

A clip has been uploaded to YouTube showing a private security company stopping a group of hijackers in their tracks. The dramatic footage shows the security company vehicle rushing through the streets of Johannesburg, chasing after the hijackers after committing the crime in Yeoville, Johannesburg.

CCTV footage has gone viral on social media showing a group of men overpowering two security guards during a cash-in-transit heist. 


The security guards, one with a rifle, can be seen standing around when suddenly they are confronted by the men. 


Within seconds the men take off with the bags of cash as well as the rifle. Luckily, none of the guards were injured and appear to immediately get up and run away.
