Ariana Grande causes a stir with 'God is a Woman' video

Madonna makes a surprise voice cameo in Ariana Grande's 'God is a Woman' video, but the song has caused a bit of a kerfuffle.

God is a woman! That's according to Ariana Grande, anyway.

The 25-year-old just debuted the video for her latest single, 'God is a Woman'.

Ariana celebrates the strength of women in the video. She also reimagines Michael Angelo's famous painting, The Creation of Adam, with all women.

Music icon Madonna makes an appearance in the video, but it's not what you expect. The Grammy Award-winner recites the Ezekiel 25:17 scripture Samuel L Jackson performed in the movie 'Pulp Fiction'.

"I will strike down upon thee, with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my sisters, and you will know my name is the lord, when I lay my vengeance upon you," Madonna's god-like voice is heard saying.

The Dave Meyers-directed video has been praised as a visual masterpiece, but not everyone is happy with Ariana's new video.

"Ariana Grande, little girl, you need to repent. Your new video and song title "God is a woman" is insulting, not to mention repugnant and a complete mockery of God. I feel sorry for your followers and fans and how deceiving you are, preaching a false doctrine. #Shameful" one Twitter user wrote.

Another tweep added:  "God is a woman? I thought GOD IS A DJ, LIFE IS A DANCEFLOOR, LOVE IS THE RHYTHM, YOU ARE THE MUUUSICCC."

Ariana's fans are in love with her new song, with some predicting it will be a big chart-topper - just like her single, 'No Tears left to Cry', which is currently at number nine on the Chamberlains Top 20.

'God is a Woman', which is off Ariana's upcoming album 'Sweetener', is already breaking records. The song was streamed more than 13-million times on Spotify alone in the first three days of its release.

Here's a look at the video that has people talking.
