Celine Dion honours mother with emotional performance hours after her passing

"She was ill for quite a while. And we knew she wouldn’t be with us long,” Celine told the audience before her tribute performance.

Celine Dion honoured her late mother during her concert in Miami, Florida. The singer shared some memories of her mother, Thérèse Tanguay Dion, followed by an emotional performance of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow'.

“I’m pretty sure that you heard the news about my mom passing away early this morning,” Celine told the crowd at the American Airlines Arena. "But I’m doing okay,” she added.

The 'My Heart Will Go On' hitmaker also shared more about her mother's last few hours: "She was ill for quite a while. And we knew she wouldn’t be with us long. Two days ago, we got a call from the nurses who were taking care of her so well, saying that her time was coming soon. Very soon. So last night, I joined my brothers and sisters in Montreal and I spent the evening at her bedside.”
