Death is inevitable. While many people might plan what will happen to their estate, musician Ed Sheeran took it a step further by ensuring he knows where his body is going to buried. The musician revealed this in an interview with GQ recently.

He says that he has already dug his own grave in the backyard of his home.

“It’s a hole that’s dug in the ground with a bit of stone over it, so whenever the day comes and I pass away, I get to go in there,” he told the publication.

He says people find it weird that he has already dug his own grave.

“People think it’s really weird and really morbid," he added.

However, the singer says his decision came after he witnessed some of his friends who died without preparing for their deaths.

" I’ve had friends die without wills, and no one knows what to do.”

The concept of being buried in one's backyard is not a new one, however, it is important to find out the laws in one's municipality if it is allowed. In South Africa, it is illegal to bury human remains outside a lawfully established cemetery or approved natural burial ground, reports Go Legal

Ed Sheeran's latest album

Ed Sheeran released 'Autumn Variations' in September.

It is his seventh studio album and was released via his own Gingerbread Man Records.

The album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums charts.

“Last autumn, I found that my friends and I were going through so many life changes. After the heat of the summer, everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head or imploded,” Sheeran said about the inspiration behind the album.

“When I went through a difficult time at the start of last year, writing songs helped me understand my feelings and come to terms with what was going on, and when I learned about my friend’s different situations, I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time. There were highs of falling in love and new friendships among lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness and confusion,” he added.

Below is a video of him performing one of the songs on the album.
