Elton John-led coronavirus concert raises $8M for charity

Elton John and several American artists have raised millions of dollars to help support charities around America amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Poverty and hunger are a serious problem in different countries all over the world, and the coronavirus has led to more people losing their jobs and struggling to make ends meet. 

To alleviate this, several people and celebrities around the world are donating funds.

On Sunday, Elton John, alongside other big artists, held the iHeart Living Room Concert for America - an online show to raise funds for charity. 

"I can't tell you how important it is for you to take this pandemic seriously and to keep yourself and your loved ones healthy. During the Fox iHeart Living Room Concert for America, we'd love it if you can donate to Feeding America at https://www.feedingamerica.org/. and First Responders Children’s Foundation at https://1strcf.org," said Elton during the live concert.

The benefit concert featured Billie Eilish, Mariah Carey,  Alicia Keys, Tim McGraw, Sam Smith, Dave Grohl, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Camila Cabello, and H.E.R. 

The one-hour concert aired on Fox and iHeartMedia radio stations on Sunday.

According to Billboard.com, the concert raised nearly $8-million and the money will go towards Feeding America and First Responders Children’s Foundation
