Exciting new Afrikaans ballade for rocker Marcel Dalmayda

Over the past eight years, Marcel Dalmayda has become synonymous with the local rock music scene. It, therefore, comes as no surprise that his latest single, 'Dis Hoe Sy Dans' pays homage to this specific genre that he loves so much.

This power ballad was produced by Vonk Musiek’s Tertius Human and is complemented by an old school rock music video, filmed on the roof of Blueberry Hill Hotel in Honeydew.

“It is a rock song about the way music makes you feel,” he explained. “I originally wrote it for someone else’s project but decided to re-write it for myself. It is a feel-good song that everyone will be able to relate to.”

“We wanted to create a live band performance video at night-time on the rooftop of a building in the city, with the city lights reflecting in the background. It was filmed by Wian van der Walt and I enjoyed every aspect of the process,” he shared.

'Dis Hoe Sy Dans' is the artist’s third single and follows the release of his debut Afrikaans single, Bly Bietjie Langer, which was very well received and can still be heard on radio stations nationwide.

Marcel has been working in the music industry professionally since 2013 but made his on-stage debut at a pre-school concert when he was five.

The Pretorian already has an impressive list of career highlights, including making it through to the live shows after an impressive blind audition on 'The Voice SA' in 2016, appearances on 'Noot Vir Noot' and 'Musiek Roulette' and many more.

Growing up, the twenty-seven-year-old was surrounded by music and has always been fond of old school rock bands and musicians like Bon Jovi, Guns 'n Roses, Aerosmith, Billy Idol, Queen, Def Leppard, AC/DC and Mötley Crüe, which all had an influence on his own style. He also admits that his own life experiences and relationships have been the greatest inspiration behind his lyrics.

If he had to choose a different career, he would have loved to be a spy but is very happy with the life choices he has made so far and also enjoys being a dad.

He admits that the COVID-19 pandemic has been one of the biggest challenges of his career so far. He looks forward to resuming his live performances and plans on pursuing some exciting business ventures in the future.

If he continues delivering songs like 'Dis Hoe Sy Dans' he will definitely achieve his goal, which is to become one of the country’s top rock stars!
