Blaq Diamond taking over Africa

Blaq Diamond’s popularity in Africa continues to grow. The afro-pop duo will be performing in Namibia this week.

Their fans in Zimbabwe and the UK are hoping they will be able to visit their cities soon.

Ndumiso ‘Ndu’ Mdletshe and Sphelele ‘Danya’ Dunywa are showing no signs of slowing down.

Their smash hit, ‘Ibhanoyi’ earned them their first Sama last year for ‘Song of the Year’.

“Our music has received so much love with our songs taking the number one spot often. It shows that people appreciate us and celebrate with us. It is surprising for us that the music has also crossed over to other cultures and people who don’t speak or understand Zulu,” Danya told The Star in an interview.

Other stars performing at the concert include Teni, Omah Lay, and Bella Shmurda.

The Africa Day Concert is a partnership between MTV Base and YouTube.

Golden Globe winner Idris Elba will be hosting the event.

This year’s concert will “feature some of the most dynamic emerging artists from the diaspora”.

You can watch the concert stream on YouTube at 19:00 CAT/18:00WAT and on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) at 21:00CAT/20:00WAT.
