MUST WATCH: Ivan Roux makes his Afrikaans is Groot debut

Ivan Roux, 28, from Centurion is no stranger to the stage. In fact, the former salon owner had been wowing audiences for a while before making a name for himself nationally on 'Die Kontrak'.

Ivan placed second on the VIA TV show, but he didn't leave the competition empty-handed. The singer also received a record deal from Coleske Artists as well as the opportunity to perform on the Afrikaans is Groot stage. 

Arnold Coleske, the big boss of Coleske Artists announced Ivan's good news the morning after Demi-Lee Moore was announced the winner of Die Kontrak, stating that "this is what the audience wanted, so I listened."

Chatting to Jacaranda FM, behind-the-scenes at this year's Afrikaans is Groot mega-concerts, the singer said he is grateful for all the support he received during his time on the singing competition. "I wish I could thank you all personally. I'm so grateful," he said.

"Because it took so long for my breakthrough to come, I sometimes felt like I wasn't as good of a musician as I wanted to be or I thought I was." He added that seeing the massive support over the last few months made him regain his belief in his music.
