It’s been eight years since The Rolling Stones released an album.

The English rock band has gone back to the studio and released a new song titled ‘Living In A Ghost Town’.

The song was released on Thursday, April 23. It talks about how the world is currently under lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic that has killed thousands of people around the globe.

“Life was so beautiful. Then we all got locked down," the band sings.

The Gimme 'Shelter' hitmakers go on to plea for things to get better.

"Please let this be over.”

Mick Jagger explains how the recording of the single came about.

“We were in the studios still recording some new material before the lockdown and there was one song we thought would resonate through the times that we’re living in right now. We’ve worked on it in isolation. And here it is,” he said in an Instagram video.

The single was recorded in Los Angeles and London in 2019 and was completed this year while the band was under isolation.

The Rolling Stones have also announced that the single is part of a new album that they are working on.
