Miley Cyrus is reaping the benefits of her buzzed-about performance on the MTV Video Music Awards - both in sales and social metrics.
Her performance came a little more than 24 hours after her new album, Bangerz, became available for pre-order on iTunes and at the moment, the set ranks at No. 5 on the digital retailer's top sellers tally.
Bangerz is set for release in early October according to online reports, Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" will likely see a slight dip in download sales for the week, but will perk up the following week.
This after Miley's controversial performance at the VMA's, where after she was highly criticised for her new, raunchy look.
The once-squeaky-clean, Disney star has dropped her good-girl image after revealing in an earlier interview, that she wants to re-invent herself like Madonna.
Teen sensation said she wants to follow in the footsteps of her ultimate inspiration - Madonna and that she is determined to be the next Pop Queen. She also admitted that she hopes for a long and successful music career by constantly changing her image.
"Madonna always reinvents herself, and that's what I want to do. Whatever comes my way that sounds good, that's what I want to do. Whether it's designing clothes or photography or whatever, whether it's designing clothes or photography or whatever"
Here is how Miley Cyrus' look changed over the past few years.
