Charges laid after violence in Tshwane council meeting

Newly-elected Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga confirmed on Wednesday morning that a female councillor is still receiving treatment at hospital following Tuesday's violence at a Tshwane city council meeting.
Msimanga said charges of assault and intimidation have been laid against an ANC councillor.
"There were councillors that were harmed. One was assaulted by a male councillor of the ANC. She is in hospital. There is already a criminal charge laid against the councillor who assaulted the female councillor. There's also a charge of intimidation that has also been laid against the same councillor as well. The councillor was almost behaving like a hooligan," Msimanga said.
According to reports, pepper spray was used by police after ANC supporters earlier broke a glass door to force their way into the council chambers.
