Luckily, there are 34 countries where your South African licence could be valid, including the Southern African Development Community, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States.
Some of these permits are only valid for a few months, while others are valid until they expire.

According to Business Tech, obtaining an International Driving Permit (IDP) before travelling outside of South Africa if you plan to drive in another country is recommended, but it’s not always required.
Apostil.co.za, a South African document concierge company, recently released a list of the countries that have reached agreements with South Africa about long-term visitors and immigrants driving on their roads.
It is important to note that specific rules and regulations still govern the validity of South African licences depending on the destination.
South African driving licences are universally recognised in all SADC countries, which encompass Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

South African driving licences are accepted in various other countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
