Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Parliament's Ad Hoc Committee tasked with finding a replacement for Public Protector Thuli Madonsela is set to draw up a short-list of candidates on Wednesday.
A total of 64 people are in line for the position.
According to Committee Chairperson, Dr Makhosi Khoza, the meeting will first deliberate on the criteria for short-listing, number of candidates to be short-listed and then allow individual committee members an opportunity to motivate for their preferred short-list.
In a statement, Dr Khoza said the meeting will have to determine a suitable date for interviews, as well as procedural matters such as time to be allocated to each short-listed candidate.
The meeting will also decide how the Committee intends processing the comments and objections it received from the public participation process held from 29 June until 8 July 2016.
During this process, members of the public and civil society were encouraged to submit their comments and objections regarding the names of nominees or applicants that were sent to the committee for the Public Protector position.
