R1.6million drug bust at Beitbridge border in Limpopo

A Malawian national was arrested on Saturday after SA Revenue Services (Sars) custom officials found cocaine valued at R1.6 million in his luggage at the Beitbridge border post in Limpopo.

Police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the 25-year-old man was travelling from Malawi to South Africa.
"At around 8am, a Malawian national was intercepted by Sars officials at Beitbridge. His luggage was scanned by Sars officials and 3kg of cocaine valued at R1.6 million was found in his luggage. He is detained at Musina SAPS."
He was expected to appear in the Musina Magistrate's Court soon on charges of drug possession.
