Former Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene was removed 6 weeks after Deputy Minister Mcebisi Jonas advised him that he had allegedly been offered a job by the Gupta family in exchange for extending favours to their family business
Minister Des Van Rooyen, who replaced Minister Nene, can be placed at the Saxonwold area (where the Gupta family lives) on at least 7 occasions including the day before he was announced as Minister
2 Gupta aligned senior advisors were allegedly improperly appointed to Treasury, alongside Van Rooyen
According to a letter submitted to the PP's office, total revenues from Gupta business ativities for the 2016 financial year amounted to R2,6 billion - Government contracts contributing a total of R235 million.
PP's remedial action listed include that the President appoint a commission of inquiry within 30 days - headed by a judge solely selected by the Chief Justice.
The Commission of Inquiry to complete its task and present the report with findings and recommendations to the president within 180 days.
