Elections 2016: Results at 12:00
The counting process following yesterday's local government election is proceeding without a glitch.
The IEC's Cheif Electoral Officer, Mosotho Moepya briefed the media at the national results operation centre in Pretoria West at lunchtime.
"As at 11 this morning 78.8% of the results had been captures," he told journalists.
After the votes have been captured they still need to undergo a process of confirmation and auditing before it can be declared.
"Some tempers flared up at the IEC results centre in Auckland park as a result of long hours and tiring work by officials, but the situation was resolved.
