Elections 2016: Results at 9:00
With just over three quarters of the national votes counted, the ANC is leading with almost 52% of the votes, followed by the DA and the EFF.
The voting process for the 2016 Local Government Elections is now a thing of the past, but the IEC says it's very much focused on counting and capturing results.
Electoral officers have confirmed that counting got underway at all voting stations last night.
Political analyst at the North West University, Andre Duvenhage says given the fact that this was the most hotly contested elections since the dawn of democracy he expects some disruption in the aftermath of yesterday's vote.

"I am expecting a relative unstable political environment in the post-election phase especially in KZN, Limpopo and Gauteng," Duvenhage told Jacaranda FM news.
