Mosotho Moepya: We are ready for elections in Tlokwe
Updated | By MornéJK
A week before South Africans go to the polls in the local government elections, the Chief Electoral Officer, Mosotho Moepya told Jacaranda FM's Complimentary Breakfast that they are ready.
Moepya said that they are ready in all areas across South Africa, including in Thlokwe.
The Consitutional Court earlier this year ruled that the elections could go ahead in the Tlokwe municipality only if voters provided proof of residence.
"Every cloud has a silver linging and Tlokwe has been very difficult, a great amount of work had to happen in a small amount of time but we are ready," Moepya told Jacaranda FM.
He added that the same rule applied to the rest of the country and that the impact of the Thlokwe ruling would be felt for years to come.
