Quiet at provincial results centre
The picture in Gauteng has not changed much since last night with 91% of the votes that have now been counted.
The ANC leads in Ekhuruleni, Merafong, Randfontein, Emfuleni and Lesedi while the DA manged to hold on to Midvaal with an increased majority.
It also maintained a lead in the fiercely contested Rustenburg local municipality in the North West while the Democratic Alliance was leading the vote count in the City of Johannesburg with 41.78 percent on Friday morning.
The ANC was close behind with 41.75 percent of the votes.
At the provincial results operations centre in Johannesburg it was off to a slow start on Friday morning, with staff and journalists kicking back with a cup of coffee as they wait for the results to start trickling in.
