Ramaphosa and the ANC's National Chairperson Baleka Mbete cast their special votes today in Johannesburg.

The Deputy President cast his vote at HydePark High School in Sandton where he applauded the IEC on a very smooth process.

Referring to former president Thabo Mbeki - who said his vote is his secret - Ramaphosa told the media his vote is not a secret and he has the utmost confidence that the ANC will be victorious.

"I can smell victory. Victory is in the air. I can smell it and it has a very sweet smell," he said.

National Chairperson Baleka Mbete voted later than expected, because she didn't have her ID with her and had to wait for her support staff to bring it from Pretoria.

She echoed Ramaphosa's sentiments, from where she voted in Northcliff.

"We feel very confident. Having come out this election campaign where people were expressing their confidence, their trust, their knowledge - they know the ANC. The ANC has always been with them and, therefore, there is no doubt that the overwhelming majority of South Africans will vote correctly and vote ANC," she said.
