The countdown to the 10th SAFTAs has begun with just two more days to go until the South African Film and Television Awards will be handed out.

In less than two days’ time, the local television and film industry including screenwriters, scriptwriters, directors, producers, make-up technicians and artists, and actors and actresses will be all glammed out and ready to find out who amongst them will be walking away with the coveted Golden Horn. 


Similarly, the public and audiences across the continent are on tenterhooks to find out which one of their screen favorites will win.


The SAFTAs 2016 award ceremonies will be taking place over two star-studded nights - 18 and 20 March 2016 at Gallagher Estate. To celebrate its 10th year of existence, the SAFTAs, one of the most anticipated industry events of the year, launched on a new look and theme titled ‘Imagine’, and the big reveal is set to happen on the first night of the awards on Friday, 18 March 2016!


The South African public will also get a chance to get involved and watch the 10th South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) hosted by media darlings Katlego Maboe and Minnie Dlamini, live from 20h00 on SABC2. 


Red carpet coverage will start at 19h30 with Idols Judge, Somizi Mhlongo that will be giving viewers and crowds alike up-to-the-minute fashion and beauty and celeb updates as the official SAFTAs Red Carpet presenters.

The SAFTAs, managed under the custodianship of the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), are an industry initiative governed by the SAFTAs committee and the body of industry representatives comprising of the broadcasters, SASFED and other key stakeholders.
