Barbra Streisand released her memoir, 'My Name Is Barbra', in November.

What many people do not know is that the singer started working on the book in the 90s. She revealed this in an interview with Billboard

Barbra said the first chapter was handwritten and she sadly lost it.

This led to her having to rewrite the first chapter.

"I told you that I started writing this book by longhand in 1999," said Barbra.

She added that her journals helped her capture her life story well.

"I kept many journals, like 35 of them," she said.

However, Barbra said she had to give the journals to her editor because she couldn't bring herself back to reading them.

"But I hate going backwards. I hate having to look myself up. Look at my journals again? I gave the journals to my editor in the process over the years who would say, “You said this in that journal in 2006 or whatever.” And I said, “Really? I said that?” I like to be — as I work as an actress — I like to be in the moment and present now. I wish it was something else I was talking about other than myself."

Barbra also spoke about her music.

The Grammy winner spoke about the very first album she worked on, which she shelved for many years and only got to release in 2022.

"That was my easiest album – it was what it was. All I had to do was work on the album cover," she told Billboard.

She adds that not much work was done on the album which the star recorded in her own living room, using a stereo cassette deck, reports Forbes

"My audio performance was not touched. Nothing was cleaned up. I sang a couple of weird notes, but it is what it is and I’m a purist in that sense. My A&R man of 25-30 years, Jay Landers, and my great engineer [Jochem van der Saag], he was able to separate the instruments. We could never do that (back then). He’s kind of a genius," she said.
