Remy Ma's acceptance speech made headlines after breaking Nicki Minaj's seven-year winning streak as Best Female Hip Hop Artist.

South African Babes Wodumo and Nasty C were nominated in the Best International Act - Africa category, which was won by Nigerian superstar Whizkid.

Everyone was talking about Babes Wodumo's visa struggles, after she failed to apply for a US visa in time for the awards.

Babes and Mampintsha reportedly pitched up at the embassy less than a week before the actual awards ceremony, which meant they ran out of time to secure a US visa.

Some performance highlights included a tribute by 90s R&B stars New Edition, who nailed it on stage.
