Bonang Matheba has finally spoken out about the controversy around her decision to accept a hosting gig in Uganda, which has anti-homosexual laws.

The radio and TV personality is expected to host the Uganda Entertainment Awards in August.

Queen B taking her brand to yet another African country would normally be celebrated, but the gay community feels she should have turned down the offer.

Uganda is known to have strict gay laws that could lead to prison time.

Bonang's gay fans and several activists slammed her for even considering the job.

But according to a statement, the booking agent has assured Bonang's team that the awards show is "representative of Uganda's entertainment diversity".

The statement added that Bonang respected human rights of all kind.

“She is a firm believer of human rights and equality for all – as evidenced by her passion to assist through education so all may enjoy or come close to enjoying equal opportunities,” the statement read.
