"Tina Turner, the 'Queen of Rock 'n Roll' has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model," a spokesperson for Tina Turner said.

The 'Queen Of Rock', has multiple awards and sold-out arena shows to her name - and legs that could kill.

Yes, Tina Turner is simply the best!

Facts about Tina Turner:

Real name:

Tina Turner's real name is Anna Mae Bullock.

She started out performing under the name Little Ann until her abusive ex-husband, Ike Turner, persuaded her to change it to Tina Turner when they performed together as the Ike & Tina Turner Revue.

Her husband and children:

Tina Turner was married to Ike Turner for 16 years until they divorced in 1978.

The couple had two biological sons, Ronald Renelle Turner and Craig Raymond Turner, and Tina adopted two of Ike's other children, Ike Turner Jr. and Michael Turner, and raised them as her own. Tragically, Craig Turner was found dead in June 2018 when he was 59-years-old.

In 2013, Turner married Erwin Bach. The couple share an idyllic home (called the Chateau Algonquin) in Zurich, Switzerland.

Grammy Awards and other achievements:

Turner has won eight Grammys and has been nominated for 12. She has three Grammy Hall of Fame Awards, and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Turner has sold nearly 200-million records and more tickets than any other solo performer in history. She was also the first black artist and the first female to be on the cover of Rolling Stone.

The song that made her famous:

After breaking away from her relationship with Ike and launching herself as a solo singer, her 1984 album, 'Private Dancer', became a worldwide hit.

Selling over 20-million copies and earning her three Grammy Awards, the song 'What's Love Got To Do With It' put her on the map.

Retired:

Turner formally retired in 2009 after her 'Tina! 50th Anniversary' tour. “I was just tired of singing and making everybody happy,” she recalled to The New York Times. “That’s all I’d ever done in my life.”

In 2009, Tina Turner had her last show at the age of 67. She performed the hit single, 'Proud Mary', for almost 10 minutes non-stop.
