Calls for Generations studio to be named after Joe Mafela
Updated | By MorneJK
The studio where Generations episodes are shot could be renamed the Joe Mafela Studio.
Generations: The Legacy producer, Mfundi Vundla suggested the studio renaming during Mafela's memorial service in Johannesburg on Thursday.
He said he’s already written to the SABC on the issue.
Mafela died at the age of 75 after being involved in a car accident last weekend.
Speaking at the memorial service Vundla said: "Without the content and the people who bring audiences, the SABC is brick and mortar. Joe brought audiences."

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago told Jacaranda FM News the studio renaming is currently under consideration.
An announcement would be made as soon as a decision is reached.
The memorial service was held at the Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein and featured a range of speakers from baba Mafela's family to Cynthia Shange, Tony Kgoroge and Patrick Shai.
