Chameleon caused a stir amongst Afrikaans music lovers when he hinted that his biological father might be the popular 1980s lounge singer Bles Bridges. While Chameleon never names Bridges, he ends his Facebook post with an album cover of Bridges. He further expressed his dislike for male celebrities who impregnate women and then don't take responsibility.

Following Chameleon's revelation Sunette Bridges, Bles' daughter also took to Facebook, writing that she was most worried about her 70-year-old mother, Leonie, when the news broke. Sunette, who currently resides in the United States, added that she doesn't understand why Chameleon didn't reach to the family before posting this to social media.
"What do you want us to say about something that we don’t know anything about…and never have until today when we, like everyone else, found out about it on Facebook? Not even a message or a letter in the mail? Not even a cup of coffee or a chat. Nothing," she wrote.
Sunette further stated that it's a pity that her family has to pay a price for Chameleon's "freedom".
Just a Facebook post that’s spreading like a wildfire with thousands of swear words, insults, and accusations over something we played no role in and don’t even have the facts on. It’s like a punch you didn’t see coming. A knife through your heart.- Sunette Bridges

Afrikaans magazine Huisgenoot published a photo feature of the couple on holiday in Mauritius while he was still married to his wife, Leonie.
On 24 March 2000, Bridges died in a car crash on his way home from a performance.
