Durban International Film Festival kicks off
Updated | By ECR
The Durban International Film Festival kicks off today and organisers say hundreds of film makers are expected to descend onto the city for the duration of the festival.
Organisers say at least 700 film makers are expected to arrive from around the world to showcase their work.
The week long event is a chance for networking and funding opportunities for those within the industry through the Durban Film Mart which is now in its 7th year.
Organiser, Toni Monty says there's a huge focus this year on story telling and virtual reality.
"It certainly does put Durban on the map but beyond that it is a platform where our local talent really gets the opportunity to engage with professionals from all over the world and really hone their skills and build their networks, build their business networks, which is key to getting your film out there at the end of the day. It's just really a huge opportunity for the local industries," she said.
