Durban wows at Idols SA auditions
Updated | By MornéJK
More than a 1500 Idols hopefuls pitched at the Durban auditions of the popular talent search competition, making it one of the best attended regional auditions.
The province has produced a number of Idols SA winners, with at least four winners hailing from Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Radio and television personality, Phat Joe, was impressed by a 16-year-old contestant whose chances of making it to Theatre Week went from zero to "hell yeah!" thanks to the Golden Disc.
The Golden Disk is a new addition to Idols, which gives a judge the power to put a contestant through to Theatre Week without the consent of the other judges.
"I'm looking for someone with presence and that x-factor, and I'm not here to find a session musician. I'm looking for the full package," he said.
Will Durban score a coup by producing another Idols SA winner? Or maybe someone from the Friendly City, Port Elizabeth, will take it?
Only time will tell.
