American DJ Diplo has taken to Instagram to share how a fan saved him and Chris Rock during the Burning Man festival that took place from 27 August and was supposed to continue until 4 September 2023.

The festival, which took place in the Nevada desert, was interrupted when heavy rains inundated the area and led to an unexpected flood. According to the Independent, officials revealed on Saturday that one person had died, though the cause of death is still under investigation.

Diplo says he and Rock managed to escape after they got a ride from one of the fans before the entrance was closed and attendees were urged to conserve water, food, and fuel, reports Independent

He shared a video of the two of them, alongside other people, in the back of a truck on Instagram on Saturday.

“A fan offered Chris Rock and I a ride out of Burning Man in the back of a pick up,” Diplo said in the video.

He added that they had to walk "6 miles through the mud", and the funny thing was that "all Chris could think about was a f&cking cold brew”.

Diplo was meant to perform in Washington DC and thanks to the ride from the fan, he says he was able to make it to his concert.

“I legit walked the side of the road for hours with my thumb out cuz i have a show in dc tonight and didnt want to let yall down. Also shoutout to this guy for making the smart purchase of a truck not knowing it was for this exact moment.”

Diplo revealed on Instagram that he had to take a flight after walking for hours out of the dessert.

“I just got done DJing for three hours after walking four hours out of the desert and taking a flight,” he said in a video posted to his Instagram on Sunday morning.

He also wrote that mud was still on his face.

“No one believed we would get to DC for the show tonight,” he wrote, adding: “But god did.”
