Kourtney Kardashian is being applauded for her "refreshing" response to online criticism from concerned social media users.

'The Kardashians' reality star faced backlash from parents after sharing a carousel of pictures of what she and her family have been up to recently.

The post included a picture of her 21-month-old son Rocky sitting on her lap during a boat ride

Many people pointed out that he wasn't wearing a life vest.

"No life jacket? And the Mother of the Year award goes to…" one Instagram user remarked.

Another person commented: "Life jackets for children is the law. It’s also common sense."

Instead of getting defensive, the Lemme founder heeded their warnings.

In a follow-up post on her Instagram Stories, she revealed that she bought Rocky, whom she shares with husband Travis Barker,a life jacket after reading their comments.

"Update: Bought a life vest that fits! Good looking out," the 46-year-old wrote. "Honestly, didn't think about some of the dangers. Thank you for making me aware."

Kardashian, who has three other children with her ex Scott Disick, added that she hoped the incident would be a lesson to other parents as well.

"Hopefully this helps make other mommies aware of the dangers of certain types of boating without a life vest," she said.

Her fans praised her for owning the mistake and correcting it.

"Her response was refreshingly honest. She thanked the critic for calling her out. Took responsibility and bought him a vest, did a call out to other moms. Never too late to learn. She wasn't defensive at all. She loves being a Mom and loves her children!"

However, there was still some confusion over the incident, with one X user questioning if she needed a life jacket based on how she was holding her son.

"If she's hugging him I don't think he needs a life vest no?" he said.

One woman responded that the baby could be flung from her arms and into the water in the event of an accident.

According to Skipper Training SA, life jackets must be worn while boating, children included.

"Do not go on a boating trip without securing your kids in life jackets. These life jackets must be of appropriate sizes and must fit your kids," a post shared on their website in 2024 reads.

"Apart from that, make sure you have appropriate safety equipment for suitable activities that you have planned for your kids. Teach everyone about the safety protocols to maintain a safe environment onboard."
