Prince's 'love child' to prove paternity?
Updated | By MornéJK
A man who has claimed he's the secret son of the late Prince is fighting to prove he's the children of the fallen star and, if the evidence adds up, he could be entitled to a slice of his estate.
A mystery man in his 30s has reached out to Heir Hunters International - a legal service based in the US - asking them to help him prove he's the son of the 'Purple Rain' hitmaker.
If the gentleman manages to provide evidence his mother - whose identity is still under wraps - had several trysts with the fallen star in the 80s then he could be entitled to a slice of Prince's multi-million fortune after he failed to leave a will.
John Hilbert from Heir Hunters International, who thinks the man has a strong case, told RadarOnline: "We have a standard protocol. We want a certified copy of your birth record and we also want a detailed description of why you think you would be related to Prince. It added up with where Prince was and where his mother was. The way we approached everything was just completely different than what we had seen. He wasn't looking for that 15 minutes of fame. It wasn't a crazy story and it really started piecing together. He's very nice, not crazy. He's somebody who's not star-struck crazy or wants to be famous. Not at all."
It's believed it will take around 90 to 120 days to establish whether Prince is the father of the unidentified man.
The future of Prince's estate still hangs in limbo as, under Minnesota state law, if the legendary singer turns out to have no children, then his entire fortune will go to his sister Tyka Nelson, who is believed to be his closest living relative.
Prince - who tragically passed away on April 21 at his home in Minnesota - has an estimated net worth of $300 million but is set to rake in even more in coming weeks due to the increase in sale of merchandise and music since his death.
According to his first manager Owen Husney, the 57-year-old star's music catalogue is worth over $500 million due to the fact that, unlike other artists, he owned both his master recordings as well as his own music publishing.
He also had a large stash of unreleased music.
