Priyanka Chopra in South Africa
Updated | By MornéJK
Hollywood actress and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra was in South Africa over the past weekend as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
During a function in Johannesburg, Chopra explained that she wants to fight the stigma that abused children somehow asked for it.
"I went to Zimbabwe as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, and one out of three children under the age of 18 have been sexually abused. In South Africa it is one in every 5," Chopra said.
Chopra is one of India's highest-paid actresses and she also won the Miss World pageant in 2000.
In 2016 India honoured her with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award. Time magazine has also named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
