Rami Malek confirmed as the latest 007 villain

Oscar winner Rami Malek has been confirmed as the villain in Daniel Craig's final outing as 007.

Director Carie Fukunga and producer Barbara Brocolli made the announcement on location in Jamaica for the 25th instalment of the James Bond franchise.

Speaking via video link from New York City, Malek said: 'I'm stuck here in New York City, I am very much looking forward to joining the whole cast and crew. I will be making sure Mr Bond doesn't have an easy ride on this.” 

Teasing details of the film, Brocolli said Bond will be enjoying himself in Jamaica at the start of the film.

'Bond is not on active service when we start the film, he is enjoying himself in Jamaica, we consider Jamaica Bond's spiritual home.

"So he starts his journey here, we have built an extraordinary house for him, he starts his journey here. There is quite a ride in store for Mr Bond."

Fukunga said they have yet to come up with a title for the film.

"I can't remember the last time we had a title when we announced the beginning of the film. It's a tradition now."

The rest of the cast include Naomi Harris, Dali Benssalah, David Denick, Ralph Fiennes, Ana De Armas and Lashanh Lynch.
