RAYE says 'personal aches and pains' inspired new music
Updated | By Music Reporter
RAYE has shared an update on her sophomore album.

British singer RAYE is cooking up something exciting in the studio. The 27-year-old shared details of a track she is working on.
She wrote on Instagram, "I know it’s July, but I’ve been writing this song called 'The Winter Woman'.'"
Some of her personal struggles inspired the track.
"The sad feelings we wrestle with do make great songs, I think, and considering this seems to be a chapter in my life where I am swimming through some personal aches and pains, I’d say this album is now beginning to move swimmingly."
RAYE's last released album was 2023's 'My 21st Century Blues'. The album produced several singles, including 'Hard Out There', 'Escapism', 'Flip a Switch' and 'Oscar Worthy Tears'.
Her fans are thrilled that she is working on new music, but many sympathise with her struggles.
"Why did the caption make me both happy and sad? Can't wait to hear it all," one commented.
Another fan said, "Everything is gonna be alright. Light will come back soon. Take care of yourself as much as possible."

RAYE's vision for her album started months ago, but she faced a stumbling block in October last year when a book with some of her songwriting was stolen.
"It’s my birthday and my car got stolen with all my song writing books in the boot. So, no second album any time soon," she wrote.
The singer told Variety in December that the books contained notes for at least three songs she was working on for her new album.
"I had a lot of brilliant poems and titles and phrases and words. I was starting to explore the idea of writing the lyrics to melodies. Melodies are an abundant thing you can always play with, but the lyrics are different — they’re so important," she said.
Other stars who have suffered similar losses include Beyoncé and Lana Del Rey.
Earlier this month, unreleased Beyoncé music was stolen from a car in Atlanta. Her choreographer and dancer, Christopher Grant, returned to his rental car to find that one of the windows had been smashed.
His luggage, which contained music on computer drives, was stolen. An Apple MacBook was also taken.

In 2022, Del Rey revealed that thieves also got their hands on her music and notebook.
"A few months ago, I parked my car on Melrose Place and I stepped away from it for a minute and the one time I left my backpack inside my car, someone broke all the windows," she shared on X.
"Inside of it was my computer, and my three camcorders and my hard drives. I had to remotely wipe the computer that had my 200-page book for Simon and Schuster, which I didn't have backed up on a cloud because we do not have any cloud systems that we access."
Sadly, some of the music was leaked online.
RAYE's sophomore album does not yet have a title or release date.
