The 40-year-old comedian, who famously wrote a book calling for a revolution, has acquired a six-bedroom pad that boasts an acre of land and is situated in Henley-on-Thames.

The Hollywood star has been widely mocked for persistently calling for a revolution, despite living such a comfortable lifestyle himself.

Among Russell's most outspoken critics has been his long-time friend Noel Gallagher.

The former Oasis star told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "He told me he is writing another book. I said what is it going to be called this time? 'Now about that revolution that never took place'.

"He is playing Xbox. Revolutionary Russell is playing PS4."

Noel also recently joked that his pal has "serial killer" tendencies after he discovered wet wipes under the sun visors in his car.

He recalled: "I spent the day with him recently. He took me to see a [soccer] match a couple of weeks ago. He drove us from the house in Maida Vale to West Ham, which is the other side of the river. It was brilliant.

"I never get him in a car for more than five minutes. I was in the Range Rover with him ... I always find it weird that under the sun visors he has wet wipes. Now that's serial killer gear that innit? The wet wipes.

"If you have ever seen 'Making a Murderer, you'll understand what the wet wipes thing is. Who has wet wipes in the car. What you doing in there?"
