The Sunday World reported that Lerato was refused permission from the SABC to host the ANN7 awards showcase – South African of The Year as well as a new show on Comedy Central costing the TV and radio personality just under R1 million.

According to the newspaper,  sources close to the situation revealed that ‘’The Guptas’’ wanted to pay Lerato close to R500 000 to host the show. ‘’Our own black brothers and sisters are oppressing us. We wish Hlaudi can intervene on this one because it is just a one – day event’’ said the source.

Last year, Minnie Dlamini hosted the South African of the Year and Thando Thabethe signed to be a judge on TLC Next Great Presenter search.

Both personalities have had to struggle to get their way from the SABC but eventually were granted permission to do the projects. It makes us wonder whether the “permission’’ is based on personal relationships and not actual work ethics?

Lerato knows where her bread is buttered and keeping mum on the situation sending all media to the SABC spokesperson, Kaiser Kganyago, who said that he was not aware of the matter. Lerato is currently the host of LIVE AMP and the drive time show on Metro FM which is a very lucrative and cushy place to be for the talented personality.

We hope all goes well for Lerato and she is able to buy her mom a BMW X5, a Bentley and an Office-Shaped house very soon.
