Selena Gomez on her mental health: 'I just believe in therapy'
Updated | By Entertainment Reporter
Selena Gomez hopes sharing her mental health struggles will inspire others.

Music superstar and mental health advocate Selena Gomez says she wants to help "people who don’t feel seen or heard".
Gomez opened up about her emotional well-being during an interview on the 'Therapuss with Jake Shane' podcast.
She revealed why she is passionate about sharing her story.
"I tried to share my story in hopes that it would be something to help others, and I think I did that when I admitted that I had struggled through my bipolar diagnosis,” she said.
Gomez's company, Rare Beauty, has a philanthropic initiative to raise awareness about mental health. The Rare Impact Fund provides education and support services to people worldwide.
She donates some of the proceeds from her brand to the foundation.
"I realised anything that I touch or anything I’m a part of, it has to give back in some sort of element, and that just always has been my key demographic. It’s people who don’t feel seen or heard or even know what’s going on in their own mind."
While many people still shy away from therapy, the 'Sunset Blvd' singer embraces it.
"I just believe in therapy. I’m on medication and I feel really lucky that I’m in the position that I’m in now and I believe in all of that," she told Shane.
Gomez also talked about her fiancé, Benny Blanco. She says she "couldn't be more excited" about her wedding.
"There’s so much kind of happening in the moment. He's working on some projects that he has to wrap up, and we have things we want to finish and our own personal endeavours before we get into all the nitty-gritty. I just have really never felt so sure about something, and I also don’t want to jinx it by saying that.”
Her bestie, Taylor Swift, also got a mention. They became close in their teens when they dated two members of the Jonas Brothers.
Gomez dated Nick Jonas while Swift dated Joe Jonas, who famously broke up with her in a 27-second call.
"She and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other because it was really sweet.”
The 33-year-old shared one of the perks of being best friends with the 14-time Grammy Award winner. She got to hear Swift's 2008 hit single, 'Love Story', before it was released.
"I was in a hotel room. and I remember it vividly. It was just one of those songs I instantly heard and thought this is one of the most beautiful songs ever."
