The Voice SA: Coaches exercise their final save
Updated | By MornéJK
In this week’s live show The Voice SA coaches Karen Zoid, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Lira and Kahn Morbee had the last chance to give one of their team members a guaranteed spot in the next round.
Khan saved 22-year old heartthrob Richard Stirton from Cape Town who rocked the stage with Mumford & Sons’s “I Will Wait”; then Lira opted for the charismatic Zoë Modiga from Pietermaritzburg whose interpretation of Rihanna’s “Diamonds” inspired coach Kahn to invite her to sing on his next album.
An emotional Bobby, who had to compose himself to make a call, gave Gavin Edwards the green light with his solid song choice of Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars”; and Karen decided to save powerhouse diva Thembeka Mnguni after her stirring performance of “Run” by Leona Lewis.
The support of the South African voting public will determine which one of the remaining singers from each coach’s team will join Richard, Zoë, Gavin and Thembeka in next week’s live show, the week before the final on Sunday 22 May.
After a delivery failure which resulted in the loss of 8000 intended votes from Vodacom customers which could not be allocated to individual singers, M-Net in consultation with independent auditing firm Deloitte & Touche, decided to save an entire coach’s team this week.
It was the only one in which the votes were very close with fewer than 8000 votes between two of the talent.
The coach whose team was affected was Lira.
All The Voice SA fans have to do now to save their favourites, is to SMS their favourite talent’s unique Voting Number to 33692.
