WATCH: Will Smith publicly apologises for infamous Oscars slap

Actor Will Smith broke his silence after the infamous Oscars slap.

On the night of the 94th Academy Awards in March, comedian Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, which resulted in Will slapping Rock.

Following the incident at the Oscars, Smith has been barred from attending the Academy Awards for the next ten years.

Smith broke his silence and apologized on Instagram.

"My behavior at last night's Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable."

It was also reported that Smith is getting therapy after the incident. 

On Friday, months after the incident, Smith released a video reflecting on the slap - the first time he has been seen discussing it - in which he reiterated his apology.

"Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable," he said.

"I'm here whenever you're ready to talk.

"I've reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he's not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out.

"I wasn't thinking about how many people got hurt in that moment. There is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment."
