Maths exam paper leaked in Limpopo

A Mathematics Paper 2 exam has been leaked in Limpopo, the department of basic education has confirmed.
Grade 12 pupils at a few schools in Giyani had access to the leaked Maths paper before it was written yesterday.
Department of basic education spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says the Hawks and police have been tasked to investigate the security breach.
"The Department takes this security breach in a serious light and has since involved law enforcement agencies to swiftly investigate this matter. A case has been opened with the police," he says.

All the exam scripts of the schools in the affected area will now be quarantined.
The department says this will be done to establish if there are any patterns.
"A team from DBE and province are working together with law enforcement to get to the bottom of this matter so that we can take appropriate action," Mhlanga says.

Prior to the start of the exams, the department was adamant it had implemented all the necessary measures to prevent an exam leak.
The Life Sciences Paper 2 exam was leaked in Limpopo last year.
"The department would like to assure learners, parents and other stakeholders that it is has taken extra ordinary measures to safeguard the integrity of these exams and would work tirelessly to expose and charge those behind the incident of maths exam paper in Limpopo."
