No repeat of 2015 exam leaks: MEC
Updated | By Maidi Monareng
Limpopo Education MEC Ishmael Kgetjepe has expressed confidence that there will be no repeat of last year's examination irregularities in 2016.
The education department in the province has put extra security in place to try and put an end to the leaking of Grade 12 exam papers.
Last year the Life Sciences paper was leaked in the Vhembe district, with some learners at Marude high school found in possession of the electronic version.
"We have upgraded security, we have improved the packaging, the sealing of the question papers. There is no contact between the question papers and any of our officials," Kgetjepe said.
Kgetjepe visited Grade 12 pupils at Marobathota and Makgoka high schools in Boyne today, to give them words of encouragement moments before they wrote their English paper.
"Work hard, give yourself enough time to rest, and follow your study schedule," Kgetjepe told pupils.
Learners say they are excited and confident they will do well in their exams.
"I'm not nervous because since the first the first day schools reopened I was studying. If I didn't understand a question I would go to the teacher for help, I'm prepared and I'm ready," said one learner.
