The government launched the 100 Men March on Thursday as part of the fight against gender-based violence.

The march is set to take place on July 10 in Pretoria.
The aim of the march is to get 100 men from different sectors of society, including business organisations and civil society groupings and government to show their commitment to making South Africa safer for women and children.
Acting director-general at GCIS, Phumla Williams, says the number of cases of gender-based violence is increasing at an alarming rate.
“Gender-based violence during 2016/17 increased by 117% . That is enough to scare all of us. Of concern is the age in which we are finding the perpertrators they are becoming younger and younger,” Williams said on Wednesday.
Government says while it has put measures in place to try and curb the gender-based violence, more still needs to be done.
‘We have done so much in putting institutions and strengthening our roles in building shelters like the Thuthuzela centres we have even structured our police stations,” Williams adds.
A pledge was also unveiled as a commitment to fight violence against women and children.
