100 days of GNU: Ramaphosa says ‘working extremely well’

President Cyril Ramaphosa is satisfied with the work done by the government of national unity during its first 100 days in office. 

President Cyril Ramaphosa says South Africa remains on track to exit the Financial Action Task Force’s greylist.

Ramaphosa spoke at a meeting with the Communist Party of Vietnam at the ANC headquarters in Johannesburg on Monday.


The president’s remarks came in spite of several disagreements over issues such as the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act and the implementation of National Health Insurance.


The removal of Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink has put futher pressure on the relationship between the ANC and the DA. 


Despite the teething problems, Ramaphosa claimed the GNU is committed to changing the livez of South Africans. 


"We're almost 100 days in government and so far the government, much as it has 10 parties, is working extremely well, and has been broadly accepted by the people of South Africa and by the international community as well."


The ANC suffered a significant setback in the 2024 elections, forcing it to form a government of national unity with opposition parties to continue governing.


The May elections saw the ANC fall below 50% for the first time since the advent of democracy.
