109 Covid-19 deaths recorded in one day

A further 109 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded on Tuesday.
Statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize show that the Eastern Cape, which is the country’s epicentre, has recorded 36 more fatalities up to Tuesday evening.
The province is closely followed by the Western Cape with 27 deaths, the North West has recorded 17 fatalities, while KwaZulu-Natal has recorded 12 deaths.

Gauteng has recorded five fatalities.
South Africa's death toll now stands at 21 644.
The number of Covid-19 cases in the country since the beginning of the pandemic in March stand at 792 299.
This is an increase of 2 295 new cases over the past 24 hours.
