11 killed in Nyanga attacks

The Marikana Informal Settlement outside Cape Town is on lock down, following separate shootings on Friday night.

The death toll has risen to 11 after separate shooting incidents in the Nyanga area, outside Cape Town.
Police spokesperson Novela Potelwa says four people were killed when the unknown suspects fired shots inside a shebeen.
At the second scene, three more were shot dead in a shack and one outside the dwelling. Not far from the second scene, two more bodies were found lying between the shacks.
One of the people rushed to hospital, died during the night.
"Marikana Informal Settlement is currently under lock down, with police teams having descended on the area last night," said Potelwa.
She added various police teams have been deployed.
"Police members comprising detectives, crime scene experts and other high risk units have been sent to the area, some to prevent further attacks."
Potelwa says no suspects have been arrested so far.
