16 Days of Activism to zoom in on men
Updated | By Neo Motloung
The Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, has urged South African men to support the fight against gender-based violence.

Mazibuko says this year's 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children will have an increased focus on men.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura will next week conduct a public meeting for men called Imbizo Yamadoda as part of 16 Days of Activism programme.
"Men must come and help to fight this femicide and gender-based violence," Mazibuko said.
She was speaking at the media launch of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign in Braamfontein on Friday morning.
The MEC also called for the amendment of the Domestic Violence Act.
She said when a neighbour reports domestic violence, it is taken lightly because legislation requires the victim to lay the complaint.
"Neighbours keep reporting and police keep saying: ‘Stop being noisy, those people are lovers’."
Listen to Mazibuko below:
The campaign is expected to start on the 25 November under the theme "Enough is Enough: Together Fast-Tracking Implementation to end Gender-Based Violence."
