21 school children injured in minibus crash

Twenty one school children were injured on Wednesday morning when their minibus taxi overturned in Roodepoort, reports ER24.
Spokesperson Russel Meiring said the minibus taxi rolled on Mare Road in Roodepoort.
Paramedics, along with other emergency services arrived on the scene and found the minibus on the side of the road.
“Most of the occupants were found outside of the vehicle,” said Meiring.
“On inspection, paramedics found that 21 children had been injured after their vehicle rolled and crashed through a fence.”
Meiring said paramedics assessed the children, believed to be aged between 6 and 12, and found that they had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. “Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported on the scene.””
Paramedics treated the injured children and thereafter transported them to various hospitals in the area, including Laratong and Helen Joseph Hospital.
Meiring said while the exact cause of the crash was not yet known, local authorities were on scene and were investigating the matter.
