3 children killed after stepping on an illegal connection
Three minors have been killed after they stepped on what is believed to be an illegal electricity connection at the Jika Joe Informal Settlement in Pietermaritzburg.
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs has now called on the community to blow the whistle on the person responsible for the illegal connections.
Provincial MEC Sipho Hlomuka says the incident took place on Saturday.
An investigation into the matter has been launched.
"I urged residents to be aware of the dangers caused by illegal electricity connections and call on anyone with information to come forward,” says Hlomuka.
