Updated | By Karabo Tebele
Three people were killed after a truck crashed into the base of a cliff on Christiaan de Wet road in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg, on Monday.

Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar says it’s believes that a brake failure on the truck caused the driver to lose control.
"The driver allegedly told his passengers that the brakes of the truck has failed and then lost control towards the cliff."
Minnaar says one other person, who jumped out of the truck moments before it hit the cliff, sustained some injuries.
"The person sustained injuries with bruises and escaped death when he jumped out of the cab of the truck."
